Tippers That Do the Work
Anyone who has emptied a full load by hand knows why tippers sell. Ring-A-Ding Ding The Trailer King keeps them at our Launceston yard on Wellington Street, so you can see the tipping action for yourself and check the build before deciding rather than taking a photo's word for it.
Landscapers, builders and anyone running a property get the most from a tipper, though firewood alone justifies one for plenty of people. Sizes and load ratings vary across what we hold.

Frequently Asked Questions
Here is what most people want to know before choosing a hydraulic tipper for the job.
How much can a hydraulic tipper carry?
Most tandem tippers rate to 3500kg ATM, which leaves roughly 2400kg of payload once tare weight is accounted for. Smaller single axle models sit well below that. Payload is always lower than an equivalent box trailer because the hydraulic gear, heavier chassis and reinforced tray add weight. Your tow vehicle's braked capacity usually becomes the real limit, so check that figure before deciding on a size.
Can a tipper be used as a regular trailer?
Yes, and plenty of people do. The tray works the same as a standard box trailer when you are not tipping, so it handles general loads, rubbish runs and trade gear without any issue. Many models take a mesh cage for lighter bulky material. The main trade-offs are the higher purchase price and reduced payload, so it only makes sense if you tip often enough to use the feature.
What should you check when inspecting a tipper?
Watch the tray go up and down under its own power, listening for the pump labouring or hesitating. Look at the ram for fluid seepage and check the hoses for chafing where they pass through the chassis. Test the remote or switch works reliably. Beyond the hydraulics, inspect the same things as any trailer, so weld quality, tyre condition, coupling wear and whether the lights all function.
Built to Keep Up
The tipping gear does the obvious work, but the rest of the trailer has to keep up with it:
- A chassis and tray built to take repeated loading without flexing
- Hydraulics rated for daily use rather than occasional lifting
- Bearings, brakes and couplings sized for the extra weight
- Cage options for lighter loads like mulch and green waste
- Registration sorted before you collect it
