Box Trailers Ready in Launceston
Buying a trailer is easier when you can walk around it first. Ring-A-Ding Ding The Trailer King keeps box trailers at our Launceston yard on Wellington Street, so you can check the build, look over the finish and hitch up the same day rather than ordering blind and waiting weeks.
Box trailers cover almost everything, from clearing a block to running tools between sites or hauling firewood before winter. Single axle handles the everyday jobs, while tandem gives you room and rating for heavier loads.

Frequently Asked Questions
Here is what most people want to know before choosing a box trailer for the job.
Here is what most people want to know before choosing a box trailer for the job.
The 6x4 is the most common size and suits household loads, garden waste and light trade work. Stepping up to a 7x5 or 8x5 gives noticeably more floor space for bulky items like furniture or building materials. Larger tandem trailers around 10x6 suit anyone carting regularly for work. Bigger is not automatically better, since a larger trailer costs more to register, takes more room to store and needs a vehicle rated to tow it.
What does a cage add to a box trailer?
A cage extends the sides upward, letting you carry bulky light material like mulch, green waste or cardboard without it blowing out. Common heights run from 600mm up to 900mm, and taller cages hold considerably more volume. Cages also give you something to tie loads against. Worth noting that a cage adds tare weight and catches wind, which affects fuel use slightly on longer trips.
How do you stop a trailer from swaying?
Sway usually comes down to load placement. Roughly sixty percent of the weight should sit forward of the axle, giving proper downward pressure on the towball. Too much weight behind the axle lifts the ball and starts the trailer moving side to side. Keep heavy items low and centred, secure everything so it cannot shift in transit, and reduce speed if sway starts rather than braking hard.
Take a Look Before You Buy
Photos only tell you so much, which is why the Launceston yard is worth a visit before you decide:
- Walk around the range and compare sizes side by side
- Check the welds, the finish and how the trailer sits before buying
- Talk through what you are carrying and get a straight recommendation
- Registration is already sorted, so nothing holds up the paperwork
- Hitch up and take it home the same day
